A Reporting Services subscription is a configuration that delivers a report at a specific time or in response to an event, and in a file format that you specify.

You can create multiple subscriptions for a single report to vary the subscription options;

Subscriptions can be time driven or data driven (snapshot update), time driven is run on a calendar schedule and snapshot update looks for new data that gets updated and then sends the report to the subscribers.

Example:

In this article, I am going to show we can create a subscription to send a report from report server via email on a date/time basis.

Step 0: Open the reporting manager, go to the home page and select the reports folder where you deploy the reports, double click to open.

Step 1: select the report and go to drop down and from the options click on subscribe.

Step 2: from the options to deliver choose windows share. this will open another setup screen.

Step 3: In this dialog enter the shared drive and format to deliver and schedule to be chosen on the blue button. Make sure you turn the SQL Server Agent Service as the scheduler chooses sql server agent to run the reports.

Step 4: go on to the home screen and on the top right corner see the my subscriptions to confirm everything is set up correctly.
