Problem: What is reporting
server and what all elements are found inside a report server?
Solution: Report
Server (SharePoint Mode)
Report Server is the centralized place where all the reports
get deployed from the reporting project.
Report server is a URL from where users can access reports
without going through the designer and can run with AD group permissions and
security permissions based on report access.
As most of the reports created are for persons who can run
the queries or create reports and to give them access the reporting server
plays vital role to get the reports with a simple click from wherever they are.
You can locate the reporting server url from Reporting
server configuration manager to see where the reports are deployed.
Things we can do from report server.
1.
Upload a Report RDL file for users to access.
2.
Create user groups to access the reports based
on groups. For ex: sales team, hr team, admin team.
3.
Create subscriptions to deliver reports to
concerned people on a schedule basis.
4.
Create filtered report access by creating
dataset level permissions.
5.
Creating Shared Data sources.
6.
Managing Report permissions.
