Problem: How to create a
drill down report in SSRS?
In a table or matrix type of report the rows inside the
dataset can be grouped to drill down each record when expanded at the record
level. There will be plus icon on the beside of each row where a drill down is
set up.
Example:
In this article, I am going to show we can use a report data
column to collapse based on the year and to drill down into each month
For example,
we have orders for each year and shown by month to count the total items
ordered in that month like below.
To get this
type of result set we can do row groups and create parent child groups. To know
more about this, go through this article. Row
groups to group parent and child columns
Step 1: Go
to row groups and right click to select the group properties
Step 2:
Select the visibility tab and click on hide and this will help to provide the
data set collapse option and select the toggle option to the parent of the group
and in here its invoice year.
Step 3: go
to preview of the report and click on the plus to see whether everything works
as expected.
